What FloatTube Does
FloatTube is a Chrome Extension that automatically enables Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for YouTube videos when you switch tabs, and returns the video to the player when you come back. It is a purely local, in-browser utility.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, age, location, etc.)
- No browsing history or activity logs
- No YouTube watch history or video data
- No crash reports or telemetry sent to any server
- No cookies or tracking pixels
- No data is ever transmitted to any external server or third party
Local Storage Only
FloatTube uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API solely to remember your preferences (e.g., whether the extension is enabled, delay settings). This data is stored locally on your device and synced across your own Chrome profile via your Google account. It is never accessed by us.
Permissions Explained
- storage — to save your on/off toggle and delay setting locally.
- tabs — to detect when you switch away from a YouTube tab so PiP can activate.
- host permission (youtube.com) — to inject the PiP script only on YouTube watch pages.
None of these permissions are used to collect or share data.
Third-Party Services
FloatTube does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data leaves your browser.
Children's Privacy
FloatTube does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected at all, there is no risk to children's privacy.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy ever changes (e.g., if a future version introduces optional analytics), this page will be updated with a new date at the top, and the change will be clearly described.
